Referee boss Fröhlich does not see any fundamental problem with the VAR
DFB referee boss Lutz Michael Fröhlich sees the video evidence, despite the recent discussions, “no fundamental problem”. First and foremost, it is about “communication between referee and video assistant,” emphasized the former referee at sky, and demanded: “You have to do that.” In the majority, Fröhlich said, “things are going well”.
The 64-year-old took this with numbers: The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has already prevented 94 wrong decisions in the Bundesliga and 77 in the 2nd division.
He took his referees under protection. “The referees are good, our international missions also show,” said Fröhlich. He does not believe in a quick “descent” as a punishment for poor performance. “This only increases the pressure,” he said.

National player Lothar Matthäus had suggested that ex -professionals should support the video assistants – and now received support from coach Julian Nagelsmann from Bayern Munich. “The idea is certainly not bad. It is always advisable to have done the sport yourself. It would be important that the professional is impartial,” he said.
