Klopp on the footsteps of Heynckes and Hitzfeld
Jürgen Klopp has reached the semi-final of the Champions League for the fourth time as a coach and thus stands on a stage with Jupp Heynckes and Ottmar Hitzfeld.
No other German coach has made it more frequently. His FC Liverpool was secured on Wednesday evening by a 3: 3 (first leg 3: 1) at Benfica Lisbon the entry into the semi-final of the royal class.
Klopp was thrilled after the final whistle of the turbulent second leg. “Should the day come to whom we qualify for a semi-final of the Champions League and I’m not happy, please come and hit me K.o.,” Joked the 54-year-old in a mood in the interview of the transmitter “BT Ottmar” interview.
That his team in Portugal had given a 3-1 guidance – by a goal of Ibrahim Konaté and two hits by Roberto Firmino – from the hand, the joy of the coach could not cloud. “It’s great, absolutely great,” he swarmed after the progress. “It’s never been like that I would take something for granted. I’m right, really happy.”
It is the third time that Klopp with the FC Liverpool reaches the round of the last four. Previously, he managed to coach from Borussia Dortmund. With each of his previous three semi-final participations, he also succeeded in the final, where he could celebrate the victory against Tottenham Hotspur (2: 0) with the Reds 2019.
