Vettel is missing in Saudi Arabia
Vettel could not attend the trip to Saudi Arabia, the Aston-Martin team announced on Friday. As at the season opener in Bahrain, Landsmann Nico Hülkenberg will step as a substitute. “Nico did it well in Bahrain. We are sure that it will be so in Jedda,” it said from the racing team.
Vettel had been positively tested for the virus before the first seasonal run. His racing stable had kept the decision on an assignment this weekend in Jedda until recently. However, the Hesse must continue to remain in the quarantine in its Swiss adopted home. At the Grand Prix of Australia in Melbourne in two weeks Vettel should then return to the car.
After the weak start to the new World Cup year, Aston Martin meets the failure of the four-time world champion particularly hard. At the beginning of Bahrain, Stammpilot Lance Stroll and Replacement Man Hülkenberg were chanceless and remained without points. Right now Vettel’s experience would be important to further develop the apparently weakening new car for the racing team. After a radical control reform, all teams drive with greatly changed cars.
